The receipts
How this directory works
Four listings, one rule: everything on this site is either sourced or labeled. This page shows the machinery — where listings come from, how trust is earned, and what money does and does not touch.
How listings get in
Every listing starts at the shop’s own public website. We read it — specialties, hours, phone numbers, service-area claims — and record what it says, with the date we read it. The pass behind today’s data finished in September 2026, and every listing carries that date because a directory that won’t say when it looked is a directory that isn’t looking.
The directory holds four listings. Three are Houston repair shops with addresses and bays you can drive to. One is a Dallas–Fort Worth mobile outfit whose website lists Houston among the markets it serves — we present that exactly as written and mark the coverage listed-but-unconfirmed, because a service-area page is not a truck in Houston. We list repair shops and mobile units — not other directories, which are this site’s competitors, not its inventory. If a shop’s own data says something, the listing says the same thing — no embellishment, no rounding in anyone’s favor.
The status ladder
Every listing carries a status, and statuses only move in one direction — earned, never bought. This is the whole ladder, top to bottom, with nothing between the rungs:
Listed
Built from the shop’s own public site — read, recorded, and dated. Where every listing starts, including all four today.
Claimed
The shop confirms it owns the listing and corrects anything wrong. Free, and it unlocks richer fields — services in the shop’s own words.
Verified by phone
We called, someone answered, and hours and scope were checked against the claims. The badge and the month go on the listing, in the open. No listing carries it yet — the calls are scheduled next, and until they happen, the ladder says so.
The distance between listed and verified by phone is one phone call, and we’d rather show you an empty top rung than a fake full one.
Why there are no prices here — yet
No Houston shop that ranks publishes prices — we checked every site in September 2026. Rather than fill that gap with numbers that go stale the moment parts prices or the hour of the night changes, this directory quotes nothing. The shops list what they do; you call them and they quote the truck in front of them. That is the honest version of the current state.
When the verification calls have gone far enough that we can collect real, current Houston numbers — and keep them current — this site will publish them as reported ranges: labeled, dated, and never dressed up as a named shop’s quote. A price page that can’t be kept honest doesn’t get published; that bar is the same one everything else on this site clears.
Corrections and claims
Corrections are free and always will be. A shop that sees a wrong hour, a stale number, or a mislabeled specialty can fix it — no account, no paywall, no negotiation. A wrong hour costs a driver a wasted call and costs the shop a job; neither should pay to prevent it. Use theclaim form — a human reads it, and a human calls back before anything changes.
Independence
Houston Diesel Shops is an independent directory. It is not a shop — nobody here will quote your repair, because nobody here will perform it. It is not a dispatcher — we don’t answer breakdown calls and we don’t roll trucks for a cut. This site takes no percentage of any job, sends no truck, and sells no ranking — the order shops appear in is not for sale and does not change for money.
The one paid element on this site is the Spotlight slot at the top of each specialty hub. It is drawn with hazard stripes, stamped with the wordSpotlight, and described in place: a labeled advertisement, never an earned position, never a factor in listing order. It is labeled precisely so it can never be mistaken for one. If the labeling ever fails, the slot goes — not the label.
And you will not find star ratings, review scores, or top-ten badges anywhere here. Ratings we can’t verify are marketing, and this directory doesn’t do marketing.
